Penguin’s Best Art of Burning Man 2018

Below I list my favourite 10 art pieces. They may not be the same as anyone else's but everyone loved Moondancer. I'd say that was the real hit of this year. The gold art car in the featured photo is Little Abraxis. I hadn't seen this dragon before. Biking to See the Art This was my eighth big … [Read more...]

This speech was filmed at the Communicators Toastmaster Club. This is the transcript of the speech. It takes about nine minutes to watch. Toastmaster … [Read more...]

VEDA #4 Is it worthwhile to go to Burning Man? (about 8 minutes viewing time) (Blurry video because it was on Auto setting late in the day. It's a learning process. It's all good.) Lamplighting at BRC, Critical NW, & Second Life

Lamplighting at Burning Man is a fun thing to do. The Lamplighters are the longest running performance art at Burning Man. I like being a lamplighter. In 2009 after lamplighting in the desert I became the Keeper of the Lamps for the online regional Burning Life in Second Life. In 2010 I became … [Read more...]

Time Management and Burning Man

Impossible. Playa Time takes over as soon as you leave Reno. You no longer have control over how long anything will take.  In 2013 the line was stopped all the way back at Pyramid Lake. So we were happy this year that getting to the playa was quick. We had already lost a day due to the RV dying. … [Read more...]

Countdown to Burning Man 2015

Countdown to Burning Man 2015

On Facebook some of my burner friends are stating the number of days remaining until Burning Man. The countdown is given on the front page of the Burning Man web site. I used to be like that. Living for the week in the desert. In a way it's kind of a sad way to live. It isn't living in the present. … [Read more...]

Burner Travel

This web site is dedicated to attendees of Burning Man and regional burns around the world.  These participants who build Black Rock City in the Black Rock Desert of Nevada are called "burners". If you're not a burner or "one of us" then you might have a distorted view of the event. Partially this … [Read more...]

Who is Penguin Wanderlust?

Carolyn Pullman, aka Penguin Wanderlust, is a traveller who loves to explore and experience new adventures. More of a country mouse than a town mouse discovering gardens is a favourite pastime. The plants differ so widely depending on the part of the world and the climate.

Festivals and camping are also big draws. She is a burner who has been to 25 burns around the world including Burning Man 7 times (2009-2014, 2016) and 18 regional burns including Otherworld (BC, Canada), Recompression (BC, CA), Burn in the Forest (BC, CA), Freezer Burn (Alberta, Canada), Critical Northwest (WA, USA), T-Bois Blues Festival and Burning Bayou Village (LA, USA), BEquinox (CA, USA), The Borderland (Sweden), and Second Life (official online burn).
