E is for England

I'm doing the A-to-Z blogging challenge in April, and I was having a lot of difficulty with the letter E. Suddenly today I remembered England! I went there two years ago and I'm writing about it in my "Island to Island" book. The link to the Google My Maps is: England Map 1. … [Read more...]

D is for Desert

I had never been to a desert before 2009. Since my Salt road trip last year I've been to quite a few in the United States. I was curious to work out the names of the deserts that I visited at Burning Man, and on my Salt road trip last year. It looks like I've been to five distinct … [Read more...]

C is for California

I've been to California quite a few times. My daughter lived in San Francisco for a year. Our Burning Man camp leaders live in Los Angeles. Last year I joined them at the LA regional BEquinox in Joshua Tree. The link to the Google My Maps is California map 1. Monterey Bay … [Read more...]

8 Beautiful Places in British Columbia

You'd be hard pressed to find a more beautiful location in the world than British Columbia. I'm originally from the Maritimes but I've been here 17 years. I still haven't seen most of the province. Here's a taste of some of the best places to go that I've discovered so far. Here's the link to … [Read more...]

10 Interesting Places in Arizona

Here is a taste of the Arizona portion of my Salt road trip last April when I went to see the Grand Canyon.  I accidentally chose spring break so it was insanely busy. Beach Puppy

I've been exploring beaches ever since I got Rover, a Morkie puppy. Here are six beaches in Victoria, British Columbia that are good to take your dog to. Victoria is at the southeast end of Vancouver Island.  This March has been incredibly warm so spending time by the water is great. To help you … [Read more...]

10 Things to Do in Louisiana (other than Mardi Gras & New Orleans)

While visiting my brother in Ponchatoula, Louisiana, I've discovered fun activities and places to go. Mention Louisiana and most people assume that you're going to New Orleans for Mardi Gras. I have yet to experience that but there is so much more to the state than that. Breakfast at Liz's … [Read more...]

Canadians Pump Gas Better Than Americans

Canadians Pump Gas Better Than Americans

With two decades of cross-border travel I have noticed something this year that I hadn't before. In the States there is a metal flap on the trigger of the pump. You can latch that in to hold the trigger in. It removes the need to continuously squeeze as you must in Canada. It makes me wonder if the … [Read more...]

Natalie’s Parents Garden

I flew to Glasgow last year with my burner friend, Natalie. After I visited family for a week in Scotland I took the train to Oswaldtwistle in northern England to visit with her family. They have a fairly narrow backyard going out from the house. Typical backyards have just grass with flowers … [Read more...]

Florida Lessons

When I was in Florida I learned 10 things: 1. Fires in the Everglades have huge amounts of smoke. We were told that this is because of all the water in the Everglades. Photo - just east of Naples, Florida 2. Rain can obliterate visibility while driving. Photo - Rainy Rolls 2010 … [Read more...]

Who is Penguin Wanderlust?

Carolyn Pullman, aka Penguin Wanderlust, is a traveller who loves to explore and experience new adventures. More of a country mouse than a town mouse discovering gardens is a favourite pastime. The plants differ so widely depending on the part of the world and the climate.

Festivals and camping are also big draws. She is a burner who has been to 25 burns around the world including Burning Man 7 times (2009-2014, 2016) and 18 regional burns including Otherworld (BC, Canada), Recompression (BC, CA), Burn in the Forest (BC, CA), Freezer Burn (Alberta, Canada), Critical Northwest (WA, USA), T-Bois Blues Festival and Burning Bayou Village (LA, USA), BEquinox (CA, USA), The Borderland (Sweden), and Second Life (official online burn).
